Access and crowd support

Event security and access control support in the UAE

We supply access-control crew for entrances, credentials, queues and controlled zones.

Gold rope stanchions marking a controlled event entrance

The Crew Lab helps event teams staff the people-facing access points at an event. Crew come from our network of 1,000+ freelancers, and we cover all seven emirates, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai as our main focus. Where your event needs security guards, we can supply them alongside access-control crew, planned and briefed as one team.

What access-control crew do

Entrance and credential-check support

Access-control crew check tickets or badges at the entrance and turn people away politely when they do not have the right pass. They follow your credential rules and know who to call when a guest's pass does not work.

Queue guidance and crowd-flow assistance

Before doors open, crew set out queue lanes and tell people which line to join. Once the event is running, they watch for build-ups at entrances and bars, and move people along before a crowd forms. At the end of the night they help guide guests out towards transport. Our article on crowd flow and access control at UAE events covers the planning behind this.

Controlled-zone and backstage access support

VIP lounges, backstage corridors, production areas and media zones need someone at each door who knows the access list. Crew check passes and stay on post until the zone closes. If you need a record of who went in, they keep an entry log. For the hosting side of these areas, see our VIP and backstage crew.

Security guards

Access control and security are different jobs. Where your event or venue requires security guards, we can include them in the plan and brief them with the access-control crew, so everyone at the gate works to the same rules.

Re-entry and pass-outs

Some events let guests leave and come back. Tell us your re-entry rules in the brief, such as wristbands or a second scan, and crew will apply them the same way at every gate.

Briefing

Access crew are briefed on your credential types, zone map, escalation process and venue rules. They know which decisions they can make and which go to your security lead.

How booking works

Enquiry

Tell us the date and venue, with a rough idea of attendance. Email is easiest, but a call works too.

Brief

We ask for the access plan: entrances, credential types, controlled zones, opening and closing times and who leads security on your side. If the venue has its own security requirements, we ask about those too.

Crew matching

We choose crew suited to guest-facing access work, people who can be firm and stay polite.

Briefing on the day

Crew walk the site before doors open and run through credentials, posts and how to escalate an incident.

On-site supervision

A Crew Lab team leader manages posts and breaks. They also stay in contact with your security lead.

Staffing ratios as a starting point

Your security lead and the venue have the final say on access staffing. Within that, these are useful starting points:

  • Staff every entry point for as long as it is open, with extra crew at the main entrance during the arrival peak.
  • Plan more lanes than you think you need at opening. Queues at the door shape the first impression of the event.
  • Every controlled zone needs its own post while the zone is in use.
  • Outdoor and ticketed public events usually need more crowd-flow support than invited indoor events.

Planning for Abu Dhabi and Dubai venues

In Abu Dhabi, concert and sporting sites on Yas Island bring large crowds and long queues, so entry lanes and crowd flow drive the numbers. In Dubai, hotel events in DIFC and Downtown usually need a smaller, discreet door team. See our Abu Dhabi and Dubai pages for venue planning in each city. We also cover Al Ain and the other emirates.

Frequently asked questions

Access-control crew check credentials and guide guests through queues and controlled zones. Security guards handle security duties. Many events use both, and we can supply and brief them as one team.
